Car-parks and communal transport

Chamonix is a small town whose parking capacity is limited. So as to relieve the problem, we have created a "Park and ride" project in the Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley.
The concept: runners and those accompanying them use the big free car-parks on the outskirts of the Chamonix for parking their personal vehicles. They then take the regular public transport to their destination:

  • The Chamonix Centre Sportif for race-bib distribution
  • The Place du Triangle de l’Amitié for the start of the UTMB®

This transport is free with a "carte d’hôte"! (see paragraph "Free public transport" above)

The organisation is putting on special shuttle buses to the Place du Mont-Blanc for the departure of the organisations’ buses for:

  • the start of the TDS® in Courmayeur
  • the start of the OCC in Orsières
  • the start of the CCC® in Courmayeur

These shuttle buses will be free of charge. The timetables are available at www.ultratrailmb.com

Parking free of charge
At the Grepon and the Brevent car parks, in Chamonix (see map)

Before entering the Grépon car-park, armed with your Pass Ultra-Trail® (downloadable from your runner’s page), go to the Grépon carpark’s welcome desk Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:30 to 19:30).
You will obtain a card which will give you free access to the car-park, valuable from Tuesday 9:30 to Monday 12:00. This card allows you to enter and exit freely throughout this period.

Parking is authorized at the Grepon car-park, but it is forbidden elsewhere.

Free shuttle buses to the town centre

Use the free "Mulets" (shuttle buses) to reach the different areas of the race easily and circulate freely in the town centre.

You may also call the "Mulet des Hameaux", a transport service upon request, which gives you the possibility of moving between outlying urban areas (not served by the urban routes) to Chamonix town centre (upon reservation).
All information available at www.chamonix.montblancbus.com

Free public transport (Train & Bus)

You, as a privileged visitor in the Mont-Blanc Pays, may also benefit from using the urban Chamonix bus service (excluding the night service) and the SNCF train between Servoz and Vallorcine simply by presenting your carte d’hôte. If you are staying in one of the communes, ask for one at your accommodation, if not ask for one from one of the race information points in Chamonix.

Chamonix is a small town. The Chamonix (SNCF) railway station is 5 minutes walk from the town centre and the start and finish area and 10 minutes from the Centre Sportif where there is the race-bib distribution (see map).
